TurboTax SnapTax: 10 Minute Tax Filing from Android or iPhone

Corey Gunther for GottaBeMobile.com writes: We know it’s only January, but if you’re like millions of Americans you probably dread tax season and procrastinate until the last week, then rush to get everything done in the middle of April. This year TurboTax wants to change all that and make filing easier than ever.

Today TurboTax announced SnapTax 2013, its solution which enables users to easily and quickly file taxes from any smartphone in as little as 10 minutes. Intuit is the company behind TurboTax, one of the most recognized online tax filing services, and now they want to take over our smartphones and make this terrible process quick, simple, and easy. Of course, this is only possible if you have easy taxes to begin with.

It’s called SnapTax, and just as you’re probably thinking, yes, you’ll be filing your taxes by snapping a picture and submitting it. In the same fashion many mobile bankingapps allow for check deposits via picture, taxes can now be completed the same way.

You’ll need to snap a picture of your W-2, answer a few simple and secure questions, then just tap “File my return” and you’re all done. It’s that simple. Sounds nice right? Of course Federal filings are free, but the state tax filing is the usual $14.99 from TurboTax.
The company states everything is encrypted and secure, but as always you’ll want to use caution when it comes to something such as filing your taxes with a mobileapplication. If you’d like to make this year easy when it comes to taxes, SnapTax may be worth checking out.
